The annual National Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, DC is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2012. This year's parade is a special centennial edition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the gift of the trees from Japan. This parade is produced by the same people who produce the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade.
An All Star Tap production number is included in this parade as well. The choreography will be the same choreography and tune as this year's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This parade offers two performance locations along the route. You perform once in the telecast area located at the beginning of the parade route (in front of the National archives Building), continue down Constitution Avenue performing short 32 count "dittys" to the parade audience about once a block and then perform again at the reviewing stand location toward the end of the parade route in front of the White House on Constitution Avenue. So the set up for this parade is a little different than Philadelphia but the parade is a great spring time celebration in Washington, DC. The crowds along Constitution Avenue are amazing!
